Gated communities in Enterprise
Mountain's Edge and Southern Highlands cover a big share of the moves we run in Enterprise, and both are gated, with a guard or a code pad at the entrance and rules about which gate a moving truck is allowed to use. We ask for the guest list update or the gate code as soon as a date is set, since showing up without it can cost the crew twenty minutes standing at the entrance.
Streets inside these communities are wide and built for larger vehicles, which makes truck placement easier than in older parts of the valley, but the HOA rules here are often stricter about moving hours and about which days a truck is allowed to sit on the street overnight before a move.
Apartments and condos in Paradise
Paradise runs along the Strip and around UNLV, and the housing stock reflects both, older low rise apartment buildings off Swenson and Paradise Road sitting next to newer condo towers built for people who want to be close to campus or the Strip. The older buildings rarely have an elevator, so we plan crew size around stairs rather than assuming a lift will be waiting for us.
The condo towers closer to the Strip tend to run on a loading dock with a reserved window instead of a driveway, and getting that window booked early matters more here than almost anywhere else we work, since building management often allows only one move at a time through the dock.
Getting between the two
A move between Enterprise and Paradise usually runs along Windmill Parkway to the 215 and then up toward the Strip on Las Vegas Boulevard or Paradise Road, and the drive time depends heavily on whether there is an event pulling traffic toward the Strip and the resort corridor that day. We check the events calendar before booking a truck window for anyone moving close to the Strip.
Flight paths out of the airport pass low over parts of Paradise, which does not change how the move itself gets planned but does come up when a crew is trying to talk over the noise while carrying something heavy across a parking lot.
Weather on this side of the valley
Paved parking lots around the denser Paradise apartment complexes hold heat well into the evening in summer, so a load that starts in the afternoon can still mean carrying furniture across hot asphalt even after the sun has dropped. We push for morning windows on these jobs whenever a building's rules allow it.
Wind ahead of a summer storm can also catch a gate arm or a loose tarp in the more open parts of Enterprise, so we watch the forecast and secure anything on the truck a little earlier on days when the wind picks up before the rain does.
What we tell people booking a move here
For Enterprise, get the gate code or the visitor list sorted with your HOA or your gate guard company before the day, not the morning of, since a call to the front office at seven in the morning does not always get answered fast enough to keep a crew on schedule.
For Paradise, especially near UNLV, call the leasing office as soon as your date is set, since the busiest turnover season fills the loading dock calendar quickly, and a late call can mean the window you wanted is already taken by someone else in the building.
